GENEVA-ON-THE-LAKE, Ohio (February 7, 2008) – The Lodge at Geneva-on-the-Lake’s new Executive Chef Stephen Gary will meld the best of classic American Cuisine with unique flavors, textures and presentation as he takes over the reigns at the resort’s Horizons Restaurant.Gary ranks his time spent working alongside renowned chef and restaurateur Wolfgang Puck among his greatest culinary experiences in helping him shape his approach to New Age American cuisine.

“I like to put a spin on what’s typically considered traditional American foods. Diners will enjoy a new spin on old favorites with the infusion of such fresh, local flavors as maple walnut glazing, maple vinaigrette and Lake Erie walleye, alongside unique ingredients that originate from other regions of the U.S., like Tillamook Cheddar,” explained Gary.

Alongside traditional favorites, lunch and dinner menus will include a selection of entrees sure to delight the more adventurous palates. Dinner entrees will include creations such as Mustard Rubbed Pork Tenderloin with Creamy Polenta and Balsamic Smothered Crimini Mushrooms and Aged New York Strip Steak with Tillamook Cheddar Potato Gratin, Braised Chard and Cabernet Reduction.

“What’s more, the Horizons dining experience is enhanced by one of the most amazing views showcasing Lake Erie’s splendor. The new menu will complement the seasonal changes here at the Lodge,” Gary said.

New luncheon features include Asian Tuna Melt with Seared Sesame Tuna on a Baguette, Wasabi Sour Cream and Wonton Crisps, as well as Grilled Walleye on Sourdough.

“Banquet and conference guests can also expect a superb dining experience reflecting the same commitment to fine dining and service that they receive at Horizons,” he continued.

In addition to his contributions with Wolfgang Puck, Gary prepared meals and handled specialty events at a number of fine restaurants within Walt Disney World in Florida, gaining valuable culinary experience. When he was recruited to join the Delaware North team, he moved to Tampa as executive chef handling restaurants, private clubs, luxury suites, backstage catering and serving the teams at St. Pete Times Forum, home of the Tampa Bay Lightning NHL hockey team. When he heard the chef from Geneva-on-the-Lake was taking a position in Florida, he jumped at the opportunity to return to the North. Gary was raised in a large Italian family with roots in Erie, Pa.

Horizons is open each day for breakfast from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m., with brunch available on Sundays from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Lunch is served each day from 11:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. Dinner is served from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.
